The Colts have confirmed that cornerback Marlin Jackson will miss the rest of the season after injuring his left knee in practice.
The Colts also announced Friday that wide receiver Anthony Gonzalez underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right knee Thursday and safety Bob Sanders visited noted surgeon Dr. James Andrews to gather additional information about his injured left elbow.
The team said it had placed Jackson on season-ending injured reserve for the injury he suffered during a non-contact practice drill Wednesday. The Colts didn't give details on Jackson's injury, but a league source told NFL Network's Jason La Canfora on Thursday that Jackson had torn his anterior cruciate ligament.
The Colts had anticipated a return by Gonzalez, who hasn't played since spraining ligaments in his right knee during the season opener, but he recently suffered a setback in practice, the team said. He caught 57 passes for 664 yards last season.
Sanders returned to the Colts in Week 7 after missing the entire preseason and the first five regular-season games while recovering from offseason knee surgery. He suffered the elbow injury during last weekend's victory over the San Francisco 49ers.
The Colts signed veteran defensive end Josh Thomas to fill the roster spot left by Jackson. Thomas played with the Colts from 2004 to 2008 and had 104 tackles and six sacks in 68 games. He made 12 starts.
